Student exhibit opens March 30 at McDonough

The McDonough Museum is located on the campus of Youngstown State University.

Youngstown State University’s 76th Annual Juried Student Exhibition opens on March 30 and continues through April 13 at the McDonough Museum of Art on campus.

Student artists will be honored at a reception and awards ceremony 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 30 at the museum. The awards, to be announced that evening at 7 p.m., come from local businesses and individuals who support the annual exhibit. The awards reception and ceremony are free and open to the public.

This year’s juror is Sean P. Morrisey, who currently lives and works in Pittsburgh. His works utilize printmaking techniques, both traditional and non-traditional, and he also creates large-scale paperworks on walls. His work has been exhibited nationally and internationally and is included in several permanent and private collections. Morrisey received an MFA in studio art from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and a BFA in two-dimensional studies from Bowling Green State University in Ohio.

The McDonough Museum of Art is located on Wick Avenue between Spring Street and Lincoln Avenue near the M-1 parking deck of the YSU campus. The museum is open Tuesdays through Saturdays, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.  Admission is free. For more information, call 330-941-1400.
