The free program prepares qualified applicants for a range of positions in the oil and gas industry, and it assists participants with career placement. The program has successfully placed hundreds of candidates with dozens of companies throughout the region.
The course will be offered at the YSU Metro College, Southwoods Commons, 100 DeBartolo Place, Suite 200 on May 14 through 25, Mondays through Fridays, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
An information session will be held at YSU-Metro at 10 a.m. Monday, May 7. Applicants will be screened for eligibility and suitability and provided further information about the program and careers. All candidates are encouraged to attend the information session. There are only 15 spots available, and they will likely be filled at the info session.
Candidates should bring a valid driver’s license, birth certificate, Social Security card, pay stub (if employed), DD-214 (if a veteran) and a resume.
Ideal candidates will be capable of working long hours with high levels of physical activity, be willing to travel throughout the region and be drug free. Ideal candidates will have experience working tough physical labor and have knowledge in mechanics, electronics, heavy equipment operations, engineering or a wide variety of skills. Commercial drivers licenses or military experience is a plus.
The program is funded through the Department of Labor’s Energize Appalachian Ohio grant at Zane State College.
