Diversity celebration is March 29

Zahid Bukhari, president of the Islamic Circle of North America and executive director of the Center for Islam and Public Policy, will speak at Youngstown State University’s 2012 Diversity Leadership Recognition Celebration 6 p.m., Thursday, March 29 at Mr. Anthony’s in Boardman.

The cost is $35.00 per person or a table of eight for $280.  Reservation deadline is March 22. Proceeds from the event fund student scholarships through an endowment that has been established with the YSU Foundation.

The purpose of the event is to celebrate and embrace diversity at YSU and in the community.

Honorees include: Leaders of Tomorrow (Rebecca Banks, Cary W. Dabney, Anita Gomez and Ohio Lady Advocates co-founders: Sarah J. Lowry and Molly Toth); Campus Leadership (Ana M. Bobby, Sherri R. Lovelace-Cameron and Jacqueline Robertson); Community Leadership (Tom Anderson, Bob “Doby” Dean, Carole McWilson and Penny Wells).  The recipients of the Diversity Leadership scholarship are Mark A. Jones Jr. and Marilyn Bills.
