Seventeen students in Youngstown State University’s Dana School of Music will participate in the Dana Young Artist Competition at 1 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 23, in Stambaugh Auditorium, 1000 Fifth Avenue, Youngstown, Ohio.
The competition, which includes a variety of instrumental and vocal performances, is free and open to the public.
The annual event is open to juniors, seniors and graduate students who are enrolled in applied music at the Dana School of Music. Each student has a set time to perform, with repertoires ranging from classical to contemporary composers. Students may either perform instrumentally or vocally. A panel of three professional judges will select up to three winners, and the winners will perform their competition repertoire in a concert with the Dana Symphony Orchestra on Monday, March 2, 2015.
