BUSINESS 2020 attracts 450 high school students

Youngstown State University’s Williamson College of Business Administration, in conjunction with the Junior Achievement of the Mahoning Valley, sponsors “BUSINESS 2020” from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 8, in the Chestnut Room of Kilcawley Center on the YSU campus.

More than 450 students from 15 area high schools will participate. Panel sessions will be offered showcasing various aspects of business:  Entrepreneurship, Careers in Business, Preparing for the Job Market, and Financial Literacy, including spending, investing, and credit health.  More than 20 area leaders from various segments of business will offer insight and information during the concurrent sessions. Some of the participating businesses include: AVI Food Systems, Turning Technologies, Comprehensive Logistics, Packer Thomas, Humility of Mary Health Partners, PNC Bank, Defense Finance and Accounting Service in Cleveland, Farmers National Bank, Seven Seventeen Credit Union and IRS Criminal Investigations. Panel sessions will run concurrently from 10 a.m. to noon.

Presley Gillespie, executive director of the Youngstown Neighborhood Development Corp., will speak about the role of the professional in both profit and nonprofit sectors of business and how high school students can use their talent and leadership as tools for success in either area of business.

The program begins at 9:15 a.m. with a welcome address from Dr. Betty Jo Licata, dean.
