The radio station raised $140,247 in its Fall Fund Drive, well beyond the $132,000 goal and well, well beyond the $115,000 goals set for the last several campaigns.

“This drive has been such a fabulous affirmation of the importance of public radio to our personal lives, to YSU, and to the community,” said Gary Sexton, WYSU director.

In all, 1,166 people contributed, including118 new members.

Sexton said the private funding is necessary to offset cuts that were mandated by the university this past year.

“In these challenging times this drive has been such a fabulous affirmation of the importance of public radio to our personal lives, to YSU, and to the community,” Sexton said.

Meeting the goal was especially exciting for the WYSU staff, who worked long hours on and off the air to make the goal. “I feel rejuvenated!” said Barbara Krauss, classical music host and drive announcer. “This has been a wonderful drive.”
