Lectures, recitals and performances from scholars and musicians throughout the world are featured in a conference titled “Jewish Music and Jewish Identity” Oct. 19, 20 and 21 on campus. Monday, Oct 20, 7:30 p.m. YSU’s Dana School of Music presents a Fall Choral Concert titled, “Sing on Justice, Truth, Love and Peace” in St. Columba Cathedral in Youngstown. More here.

Tuesday, Oct. 21, 7:30 p.m. The YSU Poetry Center, YSU Writing Center and Etruscan Press host a reading and prize presentation the Chestnut Room of Kilcawley Center on the YSU campus. More here.

Wednesday, Oct. 22, 7 p.m. A free lecture titled “Unconventional Politics of Unconventional Gas: Policy Challenges,” by Andrew Kear, PhD, assistant professor, Department of Political Science, Department of the Environment and Sustainability, Bowling Green State University, will be presented in Room 2000 of Moser Hall on campus. The lecture is part of the Fall Semester Speaker Series on Energy and the Environment, organized by Ray Beiersdorfer, professor of Geological and Environmental Sciences. More here.

Wednesday, Oct. 22, 7 p.m. YSU’s women’s soccer team takes on Cleveland State at Farmers National Bank Field on campus.

Wednesday, Oct. 22, 7:30 p.m. Wally Lamb, author of four New York Times best-selling novels, presents the YSU Skeggs Lecture in Stambaugh Auditorium in Youngstown. The lecture is free and open to the public. Tickets are mandatory and seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. Thursday, Oct. 23. A record number of high school juniors and seniors are registered to attend YSU’s MathFest in Kilcawley Center. More here.

Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 24, 25 and 26. University Theater presents the musical, “The Spitfire Grill,” in Ford Theater in Bliss Hall on campus. Friday and Saturday performances begin at 7:30 p.m., while the Sunday matinee performances are at 2 p.m. More here.

Friday and Saturday, Oct. 24 and 25, 8 p.m. The Ward Beecher Planetarium at YSU presents “Nightlights 3.0.” The planetarium’s annual “Halloween Show” will be 1 and 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct 24. Free.
