Check out what's happening this week at Youngstown State University.Monday, March 30. YSU’s Geography Department hosts the 24th annual Student Recognition and Awards Dinner in the Presidential Suites of Kilcawley Center.

Monday, March 30, 7 p.m. James Randi, magician, escape artist and the world’s most tireless investigator and demystifier of paranormal and pseudoscientific claims, visits campus in Room B112 of Cushwa Hall. “An Honest Liar,” a documentary of Randi’s life, will be screened, followed by a question-and-answer session. Free.

Monday, March 30, 7 p.m. Chris Herren, former college and NBA basketball player, speaks about addiction and recovery in Beeghly Center. The event, sponsored by the Mahoning Valley Hospital Foundation in partnership with YSU’s Department of Campus Recreation and Department of Athletics, is free and open to the public. The Mahoning Valley Hospital Foundation donated $10,000 to sponsor the event.

Tuesday, March 31, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. More than 100 employers are expected to attend the Spring 2015 All Majors Career Fair in the Chestnut Room of Kilcawley Center. The event is the largest Career Fair in YSU’s history.

Tuesday, March 31, 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Screening of the film “Price of Pleasure,” followed by discussion, in the Gallery, Kilcawley Center. The event is part of YSU’s Women’s History Month.

Wednesday, April 1. YSU’s Department of Art hosts a workshop and lecture by guest artist, mixed media sculptor Elizabeth Emery. The workshop is scheduled for 1 p.m. in Room 1059 of Bliss Hall, followed by a lecture at 3:30 p.m. in the McDonough Museum of Art. Emery’s exhibit, “Ambient Time,” is installed in the Judith Rae Solomon Gallery on the second floor of Bliss Hall. A gallery reception will take place at 5 p.m.

Wednesday, April 1, 3 and 5 p.m. YSU women’s softball takes on St. Bonaventure at the YSU softball fields west of Fifth Avenue on campus.

Wednesday, April 1, 7 p.m. Kurt Kollar, emergency response program, Ohio Environmental Protection Agency, presents “Illegal Dumping of Oil and Gas Drilling Waste into a Tributary of the Mahoning River” in Room B112 of Cushwa Hall. The presentation is part of the YSU Speaker Series on Energy and the Environment.
