Check out what's happening this week at Youngstown State University.Monday, Jan. 27, to Thursday, Jan. 30. The YSU Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships hosts Financial Aid Awareness Week on campus. Financial aid professionals will be available to answer questions about grants, scholarships and loans from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the first floor of Kilcawley Center across from Home Savings and Loan. The event is being held in advance of the Feb. 15 deadline to complete the online Free Application for Federal Student Aid and the Institutional Aid Application.

Tuesday, Jan. 28, 10 a.m. News conference and ribbon cutting of the new YSU Center for Innovation in Additive Manufacturing in Room 1470 on the first floor of Moser Hall on campus.

Wednesday, Jan. 29, 12:15 Free Music at Noon faculty artist recitals, presented by YSU’s Dana School of Music, resume in the Butler Institute of American Art. Parking is free at the Butler.

Wednesday, Jan. 29, 6:30 p.m. YSU’s Financial Aid Night is in the Chestnut Room of Kilcawley Center on the YSU campus. College-bound students and their parents are encouraged to attend. Participants will learn the basics about applying for financial aid and get direct assistance and insights from YSU financial aid professionals. Wednesday, Jan. 29, 7:05 p.m. YSU women’s basketball takes on Detroit at Beeghly Center.

Friday, Jan. 31, 3:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. Stars of Tomorrow piano workshop is held in Bliss Recital Hall in collaboration with the Youngstown Music Teachers Association.

Friday and Saturday, Jan. 31 and Feb. 1, 8 p.m. YSU’s Ward Beecher Planetarium presents “Footsteps.” The planetarium is also showing “Flight Adventures” at 1 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 1.

Saturday, Feb. 1, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Trained business students and professional volunteers offer free tax preparation services through YSU’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program in Williamson Hall on the YSU campus. Saturday, Feb. 1, noon to 6 p.m. YSU’s annual African Marketplace, featuring vendors from near and far, will be in the Chestnut Room of Kilcawley Center on campus. The event, which features artistic creations, artifacts, books and jewelry, kicks off YSU’s celebration of African American History Month in February. The Marketplace is free and open to the public.
