Thursday, Jan. 16, 9 to 10:30 a.m. “Why Africa Now?”, a seminar to educate American businesses on the opportunities available in Africa, will be at YSU’s Williamson College of Business Administration. More here,

Thursday, Jan. 16, 7:05 p.m. YSU women’s basketball takes on Green Bay in Beeghly Center.

Friday and Saturday, Jan. 17 and 18, 8 p.m. YSU’s Ward Beecher Planetarium presents “Skywatch.” The planetarium also presents “So You Got a Telescope” at 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 18, a program presented by the Mahoning Valley Astronomical Society to help telescope-users learn about setting up their scopes, tips o n how to use them.

Saturday, Jan. 18, 2 p.m. The 2014 Northeastern Ohio Scholastic Art Awards will be presented in Ford Theater, Bliss Hall, on the YSU campus. More here,

Saturday, Jan. 18. Women’s/men’s hoops doubleheader in Beeghly Center. The women take on Milwaukee at 4:35 p.m., followed by the men against Detroit at 7:05 p.m. More at

Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 18 and 19. The North American Conference on Video Game Music, the first conference of its kind in the United States, will be at YSU’s McDonough Museum of Art. The event features presentations and papers from scholars around the world on topics relating to music produced for video games. More here,
