Artists and twin brothers Kelly Eugene Phelps and Kyle Edward Phelps visit campus Wednesday, Feb. 4 for a lecture, reception and workshop.

Tuesday, Feb. 3, 1 p.m. The YSU women’s tennis team takes on Akron at the Boardman Tennis Center. The men and women’s teams then play St. Francis (Pa.) 7 p.m., Friday, Feb. 6, and St. Bonaventure (TBA), Saturday, Feb. 7. The women also play NJIT 8:30 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 8. All matches at the Boardman Tennis Center.

Wednesday, Feb. 4, 12:15 p.m. The Dana School of Music’s Flute Ensemble performs a free Music at Noon concert in the Butler Institute of American Art.

Wednesday, Feb. 4, 4 p.m. The YSU Board of Trustees’ Executive Committee meets in the Board Room on the first floor of Tod Hall.

Wednesday, Feb. 4, 6:30 p.m. Twin brothers Kelly Eugene Phelps, associate professor and chair of Art at Xavier University, and Kyle Edward Phelps, associate professor of Art at the University of Dayton, present a joint lecture on their work in the McDonough Museum of Art. A reception will follow at 5:30 p.m. in the Judith Rae Solomon Gallery in Bliss Hall. Earlier in the day, from 1 to 3:50 p.m., the Phelps brothers will present a workshop in the ceramic lab in Bliss Hall, Room 1059. More here.

Wednesday, Feb. 4, 7 p.m. Terry Engelder, Department of Geosciences, Pennsylvania State University, talks about Imbibition, the major reason why fracking fluid is most unlikely to mix with groundwater along natural pathways. The free lecture in Room B112 of Cushwa Hall is part of the YSU Speaker Series on Energy and the Environment. More here.

Thursday, Feb. 5, 2 p.m. The Department of Geological and Environmental Sciences hosts a presentation by noted geologist Eldon Gath in Room 1010 of Moser Hall. More here.

Friday, Feb. 6, 6:30 p.m. “Black Women and their Hair,” a lecture on black women, hair care and baldness by Monica Beasley-Martin, author of “Bald is Beautiful,” will be in The Gallery in Kilcawley Center. The free event is part of YSU’s African American History Month celebration. More here.

Friday, Feb. 6, 6 p.m. Ron Jaworski, former YSU and Philadelphia Eagles quarterback and now a football analyst with ESPN, gives the keynote address at the YSU Bitonte College of Health and Human Services’ Sixth Annual Alumni Recognition Dinner in the Chestnut Room of Kilcawley Center. Jaworski is among eight alumni of the college who will be honored. More here.

Friday and Saturday, Feb. 6 and 7, 8 p.m. YSU’s Ward Beecher Planetarium presents “Dynamic Earth.” Also showing is “Secret of the Cardboard Rocket” at 1 and 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 7. Free.

Saturday, Feb. 7. YSU hosts the National Ocean Science Bowl in the Chestnut Room of Kilcawley Center. The competition for high school students focuses on environmental and earth sciences.

Saturday, Feb. 7, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Free tax preparation through Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program in the Lariccia School of Accounting and Finance at YSU. The session will be in computer labs on the first floor of Williamson Hall on the YSU campus. More here.

Saturday, Feb. 7, 2 p.m. The Penguins’ women’s hoops team plays Illinois-Chicago in Beeghly Center.

Sunday, Feb. 8. The Hope Foundation of the Mahoning Valley presents the 11th annual Game of Hope Classic Charity Basketball game and the new Mark Cole Agency’s KIDS Fun Zone in Beeghly Center at Youngstown State University. The KIDS Fun Zone opens at 1 p.m., with tip-off for the basketball game at 3 p.m. More here.
