Check out what's happening this week at Youngstown State University.Tuesday, Dec. 2, noon to 2 p.m. YSU President Jim Tressel and his wife, Ellen, will be ringing the bell for the Salvation Army at the Shops at Boardman Park, in front of Barnes and Noble.

Wednesday, Dec. 3, 12:15 p.m. The Dana School of Music presents a free Music at Noon concert featuring the Percussion Ensemble in the Butler Institute of American Art.

Wednesday, Dec. 3, 7 p.m. Carols & Cocoa and the Dana Holiday Concert, the Dana School of Music’s annual holiday music extravaganza, is presented in Stambaugh Auditorium on Fifth Avenue in Youngstown.

Thursday, Dec. 4. The YSU Board of Trustees meets on the following schedule in the Board Meeting Room in Tod Hall: Noon, lunch; 1 p.m., Academic Quality and Student Success Committee; 2 p.m., Collective Bargaining and Negotiations Subcommittee; 2:30 p.m., Intercollegiate Athletics Subcommittee; 3 p.m., University Affairs Committee; 4 p.m., Institutional Engagement Committee; 4:30 p.m., Trusteeship Committee.

Friday, Dec. 5. Youngstown Holiday Parade and Tree Lighting Festivities begin at 5:30 p.m. with the annual Holiday Parade on Federal Street, followed at 6:30 p.m. with the Tree Lighting in Central Square. From 7:30 to 9:30 p.m., YSU Student Activities present the Dueling Pianos Show at Suzie’s Dogs and Drafts, 32 N. Phelps St.

Friday and Saturday, Dec. 5 and 6, 7:30 p.m. “A Steampunk Christmas Carol,” an adaptation of the classic Dickens holiday tale, is performed in Ford Theater in Bliss Hall. There is an additional matinee performance 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6.

Friday and Saturday, Dec. 5 and 6, 8 p.m. Ward Beecher Planetarium presents “Winter Skywatch.” Also playing is “The Little Star That Could” at 1 and 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 6.

Saturday, Dec. 6, 2 p.m. Oberlin takes on the women Penguins hoops squad in Beeghly Center.

Sunday, Dec. 7, 4 p.m. The men’s basketball team plays Thiel in Beeghly Center.
