President Dunn gives notice of resignation

Randy J. Dunn has given the Youngstown State University Board of Trustees advanced written notice that he will resign his position as president effective Aug. 16, 2014.

Dunn, who met with trustees in a 2.5-hour closed executive session Monday evening, has accepted the position of president of Southern Illinois University.

“The Board of Trustees recognizes that the position at Southern Illinois is a unique opportunity for Dr. Dunn and his wife, Ronda, to return home to Illinois to continue their careers,” said Sudershan Garg, board chair. “Dr. Dunn has performed exceptionally during his seven months at YSU, and we wish him and Ronda well.”

Under Dunn’s contract at YSU, he is required to give the university 180 days advanced written notice of his resignation.

“We look forward to working with Dr. Dunn over the course of the next six months in moving the university forward,” Garg said. “The board will meet in the next few days to put into a place a plan to identify Dr. Dunn’s successor.”
