The Lake Milton Nature Arts Council, in collaboration with the Dana School of Music, presents Youngstown State University Jazz and Wine Under the Stars on Saturday, Aug. 9, on the waterfront at Lake Milton State Park Amphitheater.
Gates open at 6:30 p.m., with music performed from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m.
The program, “Old Wine – New Bottles,” features the bebop and swing compositions of Clevelander Tadd Dameron, based on his favorite standards. YSU faculty and alumni musicians include Kent Engelhardt, Glenn Schaft, Shawn Marko, and Alton Merrell. The musicians have played with such greats at Glenn Miller, Count Basie, Tommy Dorsey and Harry Connick, Jr. The Youngstown Jazz Collective Swing Band will follow, featuring the hits of Swing Era music from Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Benny Goodman, Glen Miller and more. Music is presented by students of the YSU Jazz Program.
Ohio Wines will be poured all evening by Barrel Run Winery, Mastropietro Winery and Myrddin Winery. Food items will also be available for purchase. Outside food and beverages are not permitted. Attendees may bring chairs or blankets.
Advance tickets are for sale at Lake Milton Pharmacy for $10, or tickets may be purchased at the door for $12. Reserved seating with candlelight and tablecloths is available for an additional donation.
