Eric Shehadi, a mathematics major from McDonald, Ohio, has been named a student member of the Youngstown State University Board of Trustees.
Gov. John Kasich announced the appointment earlier this month. His two-year term as a trustee will expire in 2015.
Shehadi was class president and valedictorian for the class of 2011 at McDonald High School. He is a Leslie H. Cochran University Scholar at YSU, treasurer of the University Scholars Trustees, vice president of Finance for Sigma Tau Gamma fraternity, a member of Pi Mu Epsilon, an honorary national mathematics society, and the STEM Leadership Society. He is also on the McDonald Board of Education, an intern for the Youngstown Neighborhood Development Corp., and employed on campus as a MathFest student assistant.
Shehadi volunteers at the Second Harvest Food Bank, the Youngstown Rescue Mission, the YSU Summer Festival of the Arts, Holy Trinity Romanian Church, St. Mark’s Church and “To Russia with Love” Russian orphanage mission.
