YSU senior placekicker Stephen Blose of Erie, Pa., was named to the FCS Athletic Directors Association Academic All-Star Team. He is one of 52 student-athletes at the Football Championship Subdivision level to be named an Academic All-Star.
Football players from all Football Championship Subdivision institutions are eligible for these prestigious awards. Each of the nominees were required to have a minimum GPA of 3.20 in undergraduate study and have been a starter or key player with legitimate athletics credentials.
In 2010, Blose was named a second-team ESPN CoSIDA Academic All-American, a second-team Missouri Valley Football Conference pick, a first-team All-Missouri Valley Football Academic selection and a first-team ESPN CoSIDA Academic All-District recipient. The middle childhood education major posted a 4.00 GPA in his YSU academic career and was a two-year starter at placekicker.
He established a new school mark by making 55 consecutive PAT attempts and ended his career by making his final 11 field goals, the second-longest streak in school history.
