Application deadline is Feb. 13 for two $750 scholarships from the Youngstown State University Retirees Association, an organization of retired YSU faculty and staff.
The awards are for the 2015-16 academic year. Applicants must be YSU juniors or seniors student with a declared major or graduate student pursuing a degree and have a minimum overall grade point average of 2.7 for YSU undergraduate and 3.0 for YSU graduate. Extra-curricular activities, accomplishments and work experience will also be considered. Applications also must include three letters of recommendation, an unofficial transcript, and an essay of approximately 500 words titled “My YSU Experience.”
Last year the organization awarded two $500 scholarships to Sarah Maffitt, a senior majoring in Spanish Education, and Alyssa Sansone, a graduate student in the doctor of Physical Therapy program. An additional fundraising campaign in Fall 2014 has increased the endowment, enabling the YSURA to offer the larger scholarships.
