The Dana School of Music presents a concert by Jazz Ensemble 2, directed by Kent Engelhardt, at 8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 26, 2012, in the Chestnut Room of Kilcawley Center.
The concert, which is free and open to the public, will include music by Charlie Parker, Duke Ellington, George Gershwin and Ernie Wilkins. The concert will also feature vocalist Katelyn DeLaduratey on three songs by Duke Ellington.
In addition, music generated from two of Engelhardt’s research projects will be performed. Music from jazz composer Ernie Wilkins was created in “The Restoration And Preservation Of Historically Significant Jazz Masterworks” with Research Assistant Mark Higgins. Music from Engelhardt’s Research Professorship titled “Musical Contextualization Of Charlie Parker’s Solos With The Jay McShann Orchestra” will feature a different saxophonist on each piece. The School of Graduate Studies And Research at Youngstown State University funds both research projects.
Parking is available in the Wick Avenue deck for a nominal fee. For more information, call 330-941-3636.
