The Youngstown State University Jazz Studies Program presents a concert by Jazz Ensemble 1 in the Chestnut Room of Kilcawley Center at 8 p.m. Monday, April 8.
The concert is a celebration of the first recording by the Youngstown Jazz Collective and will feature music by YSU students Rob Chase, Kevin Snyder, Mark Higgins, Jim Weltman and Clay Colley. YJC is a non-profit student organization at YSU dedicated to advancing jazz and new music in the greater Youngstown area. YJC sponsors local jam sessions, which serve as a place of learning and growth for anyone who wants to play, and brings in guest artists to perform and give master classes open to the public. In addition, YJC members strive to write original music to further the learning process and provide real-world experience.
The concert is free and open to the public. For more information, call 330-941-3636.
