For the first time, the Beeghly College of Education at Youngstown State University will offer coursework online for school teachers looking to earn the Early Childhood Generalist Endorsement for fourth and fifth grades.
The online classes begin May 21. Classes are designed for current pre-school to third-
grade teachers who want to add grades four and five (math, science, social studies, language arts) to their teaching license.
The classes are nine semester hours (three courses, three semester hours each) and are approved by the Ohio Board of Regents. After successful course completion, students must also pass the Praxis II #0014 (paper-based) or #5014 (computer-based at Sylvan) Elementary Education Content Knowledge Exam in order to apply for the endorsement.
Anyone interested in enrolling in the classes should contact the YSU Department of Teacher Education at 330-941-3251.
