Alumni Invitational exhibit opens at McDonough Museum

The McDonough Museum of Art at Youngstown State University opens the fall exhibition schedule with “Reunion II Alumni Invitational,” featuring art from distinguished alumni of YSU’s Department of Art.

A public reception for the exhibit will be 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 13. The exhibit runs through Nov. 7.

Faculty in the Department of Art were asked to submit names of former students whose art and design careers they have followed. From the submissions came the group of 56 artists featured in the exhibit.

Among the varied pieces in the exhibit is an installation by Vaughn Wascovich on the exterior of the museum titled “Rodeo Series.”

Wascovich is an associate professor of Photography at Texas A&M University/Commerce Also, a limited edition t-shirt designed by Justin Carolyne for the exhibit will be on sale at the McDonough.

Also, the McDonough’s Fall Lecture Series will feature several alumni. Wascovich will speak at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 10. Bill Tomory, an account representative at Knepper Press will speak at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 8. And Chris Ross, preparatory at the Akron Art Museum will speak at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 15.

All events are free and open to the public. The museum is open 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays.
