The Warren P. Williamson Jr. College of Business Administration at Youngstown State University announces the recipients of 2012 WCBA Outstanding Alumni Awards: Frank Hierro, ’77, Outstanding Business Alumnus; Eric Shuster, MBA ’05, Outstanding MBA Alumnus; and Kimberly Pleva, BSBA ’00, MBA ‘05, Outstanding Recent Alumna.
The recipients will be honored at the 17th Annual WCBA Alumni Banquet, 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 2, in Williamson Hall at YSU.

Outstanding Business Alumnus Award, Frank Hierro, ’77, regional president, Mahoning Valley Region, Huntington National Bank in Youngstown. Hierro has been regional president in the Mahoning Valley since 1999. He manages the banking activity and operations for six counties in Eastern Ohio and Western Pennsylvania. Hierro, who has been with Huntington Bank and its predecessor banks since 1978, has served as Chairman of the Regional Chamber of Commerce, Mahoning Valley Economic Development Corporation and the Youngstown-Mahoning United Way annual campaign. Currently, Hierro serves on the boards of the YSU Foundation, the Youngstown Business Incubator, Mahoning Valley Economic Development Corp. and the Youngstown Central Area Community Improvement Corp. He is a cum laude graduate of YSU.
Outstanding MBA Alumnus, Eric Shuster, general manager of steelmaking and MPM pipe mill operations at V&M Star. Shuster oversees the Youngstown multi-stand pipe mill facility with specific responsibility for steelmaking and retained mandrel pipe mill operations. V&M STAR is a subsidiary of Vallourec Group, a world leader in premium tubular solutions primarily serving the energy markets, as well as other industrial applications. Shuster began his career with the company (formerly North Star Steel) in 1988. Starting as a customer service metallurgist, Shuster has held a succession of positions in key technical, quality and operational leadership roles at various locations, including Michigan, Iowa and currently Ohio. He is a graduate of YSU’s Executive MBA program, where he achieved honors through both Beta Gamma Sigma and Phi Kappa Phi honor societies. He earned a bachelor’s degree in metallurgical engineering at the University of Cincinnati. Shuster also achieved Ford Q1 Quality System Certification at North Star Steel’s Monroe Division as a Quality Systems Engineer. He serves on the advisory board of the Williamson School of Business Administration, is a member of the MetalMakers Guild and is active with the Steel Manufacturer’s Association – Plant Operations Division.
WCBA Outstanding Recent Alumna, Kimberly Pleva, division human resource manager for the Parker Hannifin Corp. She joined the company in 1999 and was recently promoted to the company’s Hose Products Division in Wickliffe, Ohio. This position provides HR leadership to nine facilities with approximately 1,500 employees. Pleva is also the leader of a team of 10 HR professionals, providing all aspects of human resources and organization development support and leadership. Until 2005, Pleva was Assistant Human Resource Manager for the Gear Pump Division of Parker Hannifin in Youngstown, where her responsibility was to provide HR support for two manufacturing facilities and division headquarters with 300 employees. Pleva also worked in the Hydraulic Valve Division in Elyria, being promoted to HR Manager. In April 2008, Pleva was promoted to Division Human Resource Manager for the Parflex Division in Ravenna and was promoted to her current role in June 2011. Pleva is a summa cum laude graduate of YSU, where she obtained a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration in 2000 and an MBA in 2005, with a 3.87 GPA. Pleva has SHRM Professional in Human Resources Certification, she is a Development Dimensions International Certified Instructor, and has the Occupational Safety and Health Administration 30 hour training certification.
