Monday, April 23. 11 a.m. Lon Herman, a research assistant clinical professor in the Department of Psychiatry at Northeast Ohio Medical University, presents “Promoting Innovation, Restoring Lives – Best Practices in Treatment of Schizophrenia,” in the Chestnut Room of Kilcawley Center. More at

Monday, April 23 to Wednesday, May 2. YSU’s 28th annual Dana School of Music New Music Festival features eight concerts with a wide variety of styles and media and several lectures and seminars. More at

A public reception will be held as the YSU SMARTS Center on Federal Plaza West in downtown Youngstown for an exhibit by Youngstown native and nationally renowned artist Chris Yambar titled Classis Rock Stars. More at

Monday, April 23, 7 p.m. Alexandra Zapruder, designer of the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum’s children’s exhibition, “Remember the Children: Daniel’s Story,” speaks in the Chestnut Room of Kilcawley Center. More at

Tuesday, April 24 through Thursday, April 27. WYSU 88.5 FM at YSU holds its annual spring pledge drive with a goal of $115,000 – the most ever for a WYSU spring membership drive. More at

Tuesday, April 24, 3 p.m. The U.S. Small Business Administration, the city of Youngstown and the Ohio Small Business Development Center at YSU conduct a press conference to reintroduce two successful programs – the Youngstown Economic Revitalization Initiative and the SBA Emerging 200 program. Tuesday, April 24, 3 p.m. YSU baseball takes on Toledo at Eastwood Field in Niles. The Penguins also play a three-game set against University of Illinois-Chicago – 3 p.m. Friday, April 27; 1 p.m. Saturday, April 28; and noon Sunday, April 29, all at Eastwood. Meanwhile, the softball squad plays UIC at McCune Park in Canfield – 3 p.m. Saturday, April 28 and noon Sunday, April 29.  More at

Tuesday, April 24, 7 p.m. Outstanding students, faculty and department chairs are recognized at the annual YSU Honors Convocation in Kilcawley Center. More at

Wednesday, April 25, 1:30 p.m. Seven trees and several shrubs will be planted as part of a new garden at the former location of the Sacherman House on Lincoln Avenue on the YSU campus. The garden is being established through an agreement between YSU and the Sachermans. Longer-term plans include installation of a walkway and a seating area.

Thursday, April 26, 6 p.m. Tyler Clark, a prominent technical consultant and advisor to the Youngstown Business Incubator, makes the inaugural presentation in the new Arts Means Business Lecture and Workshop Series. The lecture is in YSU’s McDonough Museum of Art. More at

Thursday, April 26, 6:30 p.m. Ten educators will be honored at the YSU Beeghly College of Education’s 10th Annual Outstanding Alumni Awards Dinner in McKay Auditorium in Beeghly Hall. More at

Friday, April 27, 6 p.m. The third annual Alumni Recognition Dinner of the Dr. Dominic and Helen M. Bitonte College of Health and Human Services will be in the Chestnut Room of Kilcawley Center. More at

Friday, April 27, 8 p.m. The Gypsy Ensemble, a new student group in the Dana School of Music at YSU, presents a free recital in Bliss Hall Room 2326 on campus. More at

Saturday, April 28. Reid and Judy Schmutz, life-long Youngstown residents and supporters of YSU, receive YSU’s Friends of the University Award at a dinner at the Youngstown Country Club. More at
