Wednesday, March 26, 12:15 p.m. Dawn Lenore Sonntag, assistant professor of Music at Hiram College and a member of the Cleveland Composers Guild, will be the guest composer at YSU’s New Music Society’s Annual Spring Concerts, in the Butler Institute of American Art. A separate concert will be at 8 p.m. in Bliss Recital Hall on the YSU campus.

Thursday, March 27, 9:30 to 11 a.m. More than 120 children in grades 3 to 5 at Harding Elementary School in Youngstown will be in the Chestnut Room in Kilcawley Center for the YSU Penguin Pen Pal Closing Ceremony. Under the program, YSU students in the Scholars and Honors program write biweekly in journals to the children. The closing ceremony marks the first time for a face-to-face meeting between most Pen Pals. The children will be presented with a certificate of completion, have an opportunity to interact with the Pen Pals, and have pictures taken with YSU’s Pete and Penny. Special guest and program visionary, Dr. Rashid Abdu, will be in attendance. The program is sponsored through a donation of $10,000 from BP.
