Check out what's happening this week at Youngstown State University.Monday, Feb. 23, 7 p.m. Bondage Busters, a youth group in Youngstown dedicated to the education and empowerment of African American youth, presents a docudrama, “The Missing Link,” in the Ohio Room, Kilcawley Center, on the YSU campus. Bondage Busters is led by Pastor Charles Hudson, a native of Youngstown who founded the group in 1989 in Crenshaw, Cal. Hudson teaches and supervises more than 100 youths at Luther’s Lutheran Church in Youngstown. The event is part of YSU’s African American History Month. More here.

Monday, Feb. 23, 7:30 p.m. The YSU Dana School of Music presents a concert by the Percussion Ensemble and Concert Band titled “Foundry” in Stambaugh Auditorium, Youngstown.

Tuesday, Feb. 24. The YSU Board of Trustees meets on the following schedule in the Board Meeting Room in Tod Hall: Noon, University Affairs Committee; 1 p.m., Special Board of Trustees meeting to consider collective bargaining issues; 1 p.m., Investment subcommittee; 2 p.m., Audit Subcommittee; 3 p.m., Finance and Facilities Committee; 4 p.m., Executive Committee.

Wednesday, Feb. 25, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. YSU’s Williamson College of Business Administration hosts the semi-annual WCBA Meet the Employer in Williamson Hall on the YSU campus. More here.

Wednesday, Feb. 25, 12:15 p.m. Dana School of Music presents a Strings Showcase Music at Noon concert in the Butler Institute of American Art. Free.

Wednesday, Feb. 25, 6:30 p.m. Panel discussion on “What is Wrong with our Criminal Justice System?” in Jones Room, Kilcawley Center, on the YSU campus. Panelists include members of YSU’s Department of Criminal Justice and law enforcement and community leaders who will address the issues of law enforcement and race, and suggest ways of improvement. Wednesday, Feb. 25. Former covert CIA operations officer Valerie Plame, author of “Fair Game: My Life as a Spy, My Betrayal by the White House,” presents YSU’s Skeggs Lecture Wednesday, Feb. 25, in Stambaugh Auditorium. The lecture is 7 p.m., followed by a book signing at 8 p.m. The presentation is free and open to the public, but tickets are mandatory. Wednesday, Feb. 25, 7 p.m. A presentation titled “Natural Gas Storage Under New York’s Finger Lakes: Environmental and Health Concerns” by Faith Meckley, “We Are Seneca Lake” student in the Department of Journalism, Ithaca College, is presented in Room B112 of Cushwa Hall on the YSU campus. Thursday, Friday, Saturday Feb. 26, 27 and 28, 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, March 1, 2 p.m. The YSUs Department of Theater and Dance presents the drama “Out of This Furnace” in the Ford Theater of Bliss Hall on the YSU campus.

Friday, Feb. 27. Thirty-five teams from 18 area high schools will take stabs at building the best foot-long balsa-wood bridge at the 8th annual Miniature Bridge Building Competition in Kilcawley Center on campus.

Friday, Feb. 27, 7 p.m. High school musicians from Poland Seminary High School and Wadsworth High School join YSU Dana School of Music faculty and student ensembles for the 9th Annual YSU Wind and Percussion Invitational at Stambaugh Auditorium in Youngstown.

Saturday, Feb. 28, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Free tax preparation through Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program in the Lariccia School of Accounting and Finance at YSU. The sessions will be in computer labs on the first floor of Williamson Hall on the YSU campus. More here.
