Rich Center fund-raising event set for Nov. 9

Napa Valley to the Mahoning Valley, a fund-raiser for the Rich Center for Autism at Youngstown State University, is at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9, at Mt. Carmel Church Hall in Youngstown.

YSU President Cynthia E. Anderson will receive the “Toast of the Valley” Award at the event, which is sponsored by PNC Bank.

Celebrity master of ceremonies will be Todd Franko, editor of The Vindicator.  Activities include live and silent auctions, raffles and a gift card tree with prizes totaling up to $100. Auctions items include fine jewelry from Aebischer’s in Poland, a firehouse lunch tour for 12 hosted by Youngstown Fire Chief John O’Neil, and pieces of fine American art.

Also this year, guests will take part in a tasting as local winemakers display and offer several of their best homemade varieties. Fusillo Catering will serve tantalizing hors d’oeuvres and dessert stations, paired with wines by Superior Beverage Group.  Entertainment will be provided by the YSU Jazz Trio.

All proceeds benefit the Rich Center for Autism at Youngstown State University.  Established in 1995, the Rich Center provides treatment for children with autism, and provides answers and support for their families. At the Rich Center, no family is charged tuition. Grants, donations, direct appeals and events raise the funds needed for programs. Other fundraising events during the year include:  Mardi Gras at the Georgetown, Touch A Truck, held in conjunction with Celebrate Poland; the Pieces of Hope Cookie Sale at all local Panera Bread Cafes; the PAR Memorial Golf Outing; and The Art of Autism, an art show and sale in Warren, sponsored by the Mauro DiVieste family.

PNC Bank is the title sponsor of the Napa event. Underwriters include Stifal Nicolaus, V&M Star, The Tofil Family, Dr. & Mrs. James Enyeart, George & Carolyn Mitchell, The Donald P. Pipino Company, Superior Beverage, Boardman Framehouse Gallery and Philadelphia Candies.

Chair of the event is Rose Memo.
