Nearly 90 members of Pete’s Pride attended a reception earlier this summer to celebrate the first anniversary of the formation of the new group.

The Pete’s Pride Volunteer Appreciation Reception in Kilcawley Center included campus updates from President Jim Tressel; Gary Swegan, associate vice president for Enrollment; and Christina Hardy, career planning coordinator in the Office of Career Services.
Pete’s Pride was started July 2014 as a way to get alumni, parents, faculty, staff, Penguin fans, community members and others more involved with the university. Members volunteer for a variety of tasks and activities aimed at recruiting new students, mentoring current students and engaging recent graduates.

The group consists of more than 1,000 members from 28 states. Members have been involved in activities ranging from writing notes to new students and sharing their positive experiences about YSU to representing the university at career fairs, community events and athletics contests across the region.
