Millie Rodriguez, former executive director of the Office of Web-Based Programs at California University of Pennsylvania, is the new director of the YSU Office of Distance Education.
Rodriguez, who also has worked as a consultant for universities on the successful set-up and implementation of online education, was selected after a national search.
YSU Provost Ikram Khawaja said that it is a high priority for YSU to enhance its footprint in web-based delivery of programs. “We feel that Millie, with her prior experience in this area, will help us to strategically develop that segment of educational opportunity,” he said.
Rodriguez said her goal is to “bring the Distance Education efforts at YSU to a cohesive place and then move it forward with the help of the administration, staff, and faculty.”
“In time, these collective efforts, will bring the distance education options and support for the students at YSU to a level of enhanced success by capitalizing on the great work that was already done prior to my arrival,” she said.
Rodriguez was at California University of Pennsylvania for seven years, where she and her staff earned a #1 national ranking for the university’s online programs. She previously was enrollment management team lead administrator and graduate enrollment specialist at the University of Maryland University College in suburban Washington D.C.
Rodriguez earned a bachelor’s degree in communication and master degree in exercise science-health promotion from California University of Pennsylvania.
