YSU President Randy J. Dunn congratulates a group of YSU mathematics students who earlier this year scored a record six awards at the 2013 MathFest competition in Hartford, Conn. The recognition took place in a break of YSU’s football game Oct. 19 at Stambaugh Stadium. This year’s MathFest team broke the record of five awards set in 2005 and 2006, also by teams from YSU. No other school has ever won more than three awards at any single MathFest competition. Students winning awards were Camron Bagheri, Michael Baker, Kim Do, Ashley Orr, Sarah Ritchey and Eric Shehadi. Also participating this year were students Daniel Catello, Shawn Doyle, James Munyon, Blain Patterson and Matthew Pierson. Also recognized at the football game were faculty advisors George Yates, Angela Spalsbury, Alicia Prieto-Langarica, David Pollack, Michael Crescimanno, Robert Kramer and Tom Wakefield.
