Marching Pride workshop on dance/twirling set for Aug. 20

twirlers majorettes_and_bandStudents in grades 5 through 12 can learn more about dancing and baton twirling as the YSU Marching Pride hosts the Penguinette & Feature Twirler for a Day” Workshop, 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Aug. 20 in Beeghly Center on the campus of Youngstown State University.

The workshop fee is $25 in advance and includes a t-shirt, pizza lunch and dance/twirling instruction by the 2016 Penguinettes and this year’s Feature Twirler. Deadline for early registration is Aug. 13. Parking is available in the M-70 surface lot accessible from Fifth Avenue. For more information, email Shannon Antenucci at shantastic00@aol.com.

The workshop will culminate with a performance at the “Meet the Pride” event the following week, 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 27 on the field at Stambaugh Stadium.

“Students will have a great time learning more about dance/twirling from others who have lots of know-how,” said Brandt Payne, YSU director of Athletic Bands. “And having the opportunity to perform directly on the field is an unforgettable experience.”
