Carl F. Chuey, an associate professor of biology at YSU since 1967 and curator of the YSU Herbarium, died April 18. He was 70.
He was especially proud of his work with the Herbarium in Ward Beecher Hall, the fourth largest in the state with a collection of more than 100,000 preserved plant specimens. Chuey earned a bachelor’s degree from YSU in 1966, a master’s degree from Ohio University in 1969, and had completed 24 quarter hours toward a Ph.D. at Ohio State University. In 1971, he was presented an honorary Ed.D. by Ohio Christian College.
