“Bright Lights, Red City” is the theme for Youngstown State University’s Homecoming festivities that start Monday, Oct. 13, and run through the parade, football game and crowning of the king and queen on Saturday, Oct. 18.

The annual Homecoming parade, featuring floats, the YSU Marching Pride and much more begins at 2 p.m. and proceeds up Fifth Avenue to Stambaugh Stadium. The Penguins take on Southern Illinois at 4 p.m. at the stadium, where the homecoming king and queen will be announced at halftime.

Also featured is Fall Fire Fest from 7 to 11 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 16, at the Green on Grant Street, across from the M-27 parking lot between Belmont and Ford avenues. The event features music by local favorites The Vindys and The Labra Brothers. Admission is free and open to YSU students and the public. Tickets are not required for entrance. Also featured are the Homecoming Bonfire and Penguin Pride Rally.
