Youngstown State University’s College of Creative Arts and Communication announces several Dana School of Music and University Theater events to celebrate the upcoming holiday season.
- Piano students under the direction of Caroline Oltmanns perform “Piano X-travaganza – A Piano Christmas Concert” at 8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 2, in Bliss Recital Hall. Featuring easy-listening, well known classical selections, including works by Schubert, Grieg and Beethoven, the concert will also contain a harp selection. The students are transforming the recital hall into a Christmas wonderland where there will be a raffle for gift cards and other prizes. The Dana Piano Guild will donate and serve holiday cookies at intermission. The concert is free and open to the public.
- Dana’s annual holiday music extravaganza, Carols & Cocoa and the Dana Holiday Concert, is 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4, at Stambaugh Auditorium. Both are directed by Hae-Jong Lee. Carols & Cocoa will be performed in Stambaugh’s Ballroom and will feature seasonal favorites, culminating in a holiday sing-along. Dana students bring cookies to share, and complimentary cocoa, provided by Sheetz, will be available. After a brief intermission, guests are invited upstairs to the Concert Hall where the Dana Holiday Concert will be presented featuring John Rutter’s “Magnificat” and John Williams’ “Merry Christmas, Merry Christmas.” Guest artists are Misook Yun, soprano; Wilmington Area High School Choral Ensembles, directed by Jonny Priano; and the Stambaugh Chorus Tickets may be purchased in advance at the Stambaugh Auditorium Box Office, in person or by phone at 330-259-0555; or online at www.stambaughauditorium.com.
