Students in grades 6 through 12 from Ashtabula, Columbiana, Geauga, Mahoning, Portage and Trumbull counties will participate.
Winners advance to the state finals at Ohio State University. State winners go to the national finals at the University of Maryland in June. The theme for this year is “Rights and Responsibilities in History.”
National History Day is the culmination of a series of activities designed to help students learn more about history by using the content and methods of the arts, languages, literature, technology, and social studies. Entries are judged by historians, educators and other experienced professionals.
National History Day began in Ohio in 1974 and currently involves 350,000 students from 48 states.
