Hazing is topic of Student Leadership presentation

Brian Crow,  professor of Sport Management at Slippery Rock University and an international expert on hazing, talks about “Campus Hazing: Prevention and Education” at 11:20 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 21 as part of Youngstown State University’s 16th annual Student Leadership Summit.

The presentation will be in the Chestnut Room of Kilcawley Center.

Crow, who earned a  Doctor of Education degree in Higher Education Administration from West Virginia University, has spoken about hazing to more than 4,000 student-athletes at more than three dozen colleges and universities. He is listed as a speaker on www.stophazing.org, and is registered as an anti-hazing speaker with the NCAA.

Crow is a co-author of two textbooks: Foundations of Sport Management and Profiles of Sport Industry Professionals: the People Who Make the Games Happen. He is also the author or co-author of nine textbook chapters and two law review articles on a variety of sport-related topics. He has made more than 100 international, national and regional presentations of his research.  He is past president of the North American Society for Sport Management. He also recently ended a three-year tenure as editor-in-chief of the Sport Marketing Quarterly. He was a founding board member of the Sport Marketing Association.

Crow founded GameDay Consulting LLC in 2004 and has developed guest service training workshops for thousands of front-line employees and conducted mystery shop observations for the Buffalo Bills, Pittsburgh Steelers, Baltimore Ravens, Houston Texans, West Virginia University, University of Pittsburgh, University of Kentucky, University of Oregon, Auburn University, and the University of Oklahoma in recent years.
