“An Evening at the Pops” featuring the Youngstown State University Dana School of Music Wind Ensemble will be 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 3, 7:00 p.m., at the outdoor venue, Harrison Common, on Walnut Street across from the MVR.
Conducted by Stephen L. Gage, Kevin Scales & Nick Marzoula, the free concert is designed in the Boston Pops format and includes a variety of music including music from Mario Brothers games as well as from the sound track of the movie, “Robin Hood. “The program will conclude with the patriotic Armed Forces Salute and John Phillip Sousa’s Stars and Stripes Forever.
“This is the first time we have performed a YSU concert at Harrison Common,” Gage said. “We’re looking forward to a great evening of music similar to a Boston Pops concert.”
Patrons should bring a lawn chair, and may bring snacks. Alcohol is not permitted at Harrison Common. Parking is available in the Wick Avenue deck for a nominal fee, accessed best via the Walnut Street entrance to ensure easy access to Harrison Common. In case of inclement weather, the concert will be held in Room 2326 of Bliss Hall.
