Tom Humphries, president and chief executive of the Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber and a member of the Ohio Board of Regents, is the featured speaker at Fall Commencement 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 14, in Beeghly Center.
Rich Wetzel of Poland is the student speaker.
A graduate of YSU, Humphries previously was general manager of Ohio for Sprint Corp. He is also principal of Data Voice Systems Review Inc., which implements telecommunications and associate services for companies across North America.
Humphries took leadership of the Regional Chamber in 1997. Since then, the organization has experienced unprecedented growth in membership and services. He is active in many community, business and government organizations, including chair of the Ohio Local Government Innovation Fund Council, a founding member of Team NEO, and member and past chair of the Metro Chambers of Ohio.
Wetzel will receive a bachelor’s degree in International Business and Entrepreneurship. He is currently the Entrepreneur Intern at the Youngstown Business Incubator, which recently was named the number one university-affiliated business incubator in the world. He has studied abroad in Ireland, won first place in the 2014 Oh-Penn Business Plan Competition, and interned in New York with MakerBot, the largest manufacturer of desktop 3D printers in the world. After graduation, Wetzel will take on a full time position at the Youngstown Business Incubator as the additive manufacturing strategic business planner.
