Gov. John Kasich has appointed Bryce A. Miner of Columbiana, Ohio, to serve as a student member on the Youngstown State University Board of Trustees for a term beginning July 15, 2014 and ending April 30, 2016.
Miner, who graduated from Columbiana High School in 2011 is studying political science-public management with a specialization in Logistics Studies at YSU. He has worked at Whispering Pines Golf Course, Cassesse’s MVR, Phil’s Sales and Service and the Lake Club.
He is the recipient of the Villages Marine Corps League Scholarship Award, the State Board of Education Award of Merit, the Columbiana Alumni and Friends Community Foundation Scholarship Award, the Columbiana Athletic Booster Club Scholarship, the YSU Red and White Scholarship, the Rigelhaupt Pre-Law Scholarship, the Florida Marine Corps League Scholarship and the Joseph O’Neill Pre-Law Scholarship. He also volunteers with the Allen Lodge.
He was a member of the Young Republicans in high school, attended two summer sessions of the Atwood Leadership Conference, actively participated in Columbiana County Republican events and is the County Central Committee Leaders for his voting precinct in Columbiana County. He also works as an intern in the Salem district office of U.S. Rep. Bill Johnson.
