Bring a lawn chair: YSU Wind Ensemble “Sing, Sing, Sing” pops concert this week

popsThe Dana School of Music at Youngstown State University hosts an outdoor pops concert “Sing, Sing, Sing” 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 7 at Harrison Common Field on the YSU campus.

Harrison Field is on Walnut Street in Smoky Hollow. Admission is free.

Featured at the concert is the YSU Wind Ensemble performing a range of selections, including “Let Freedom Ring” by Ryan Nowlin, “Star-Spangled Banner: A Song for Our Country” arranged by Jack Stamp, “Summon the Heroes” by composer John Williams, “Bugler’s Holiday” by Leroy Anderson, plus “Stars & Stripes Forever” by John Phillip Sousa.

“Harrison Common is an outstanding venue for this music and the YSU Wind Ensemble is enthusiastically looking forward to performing a Pops concert under the open sky for our first concert of the semester”, said Stephen Gage, director.

Audience members are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and snacks. Alcohol is prohibited.

Parking is available in the Wick Avenue deck or in the Harrison Common surface lot for a nominal fee.
