Youngstown State University’s Williamson College of Business Administration, in conjunction with the Lariccia School of Accounting and Finance, Beta Alpha Psi, the Institute of Management Accountants, and the Ohio Society of Certified Public Accountants’ Student Ambassador, host the 18th Annual Accounting and Finance Student/Practitioner Day 7:45 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. Friday, Feb. 20, in the WCBA Conference Center in Williamson Hall on the YSU campus.
YSU President Jim Tressel will start the program with welcoming remarks.
YSU business students, as well as accounting and finance students from small nearby colleges, will attend panel sessions on topics such as: employment opportunities in public, management, and governmental accounting; employment opportunities in banking and finance and financial services; accounting entrepreneurship; forensic accounting; communication and networking skills; professional exams; the Certified Financial Planner track offered by the Lariccia School; what the first two years of professional life is like; internships; technical tools used by financial professionals; the Lariccia School’s new proposed master’s of Accountancy program; transitions in professional life; and how to bounce back from setbacks. Human resource representatives will also be available.
At midday, Marsha Huber, associate professor of Accounting and Finance, will moderate a panel discussion titled “Bouncing Back: A Panel on Challenge and Resilience.” She will lead a discussion of the various challenges that practitioners meet in their professional lives and how the panelists overcame them.
