Youngstown State University is among the sponsors of the 300 Sisters in Red, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 20 in Kilcawley Center.
The program offers a full slate of health-related activities and speakers.
Registration is free, required by April 5 and limited to the first 300 women. To register call Humility of Mary Healthline toll free at 877-700-4647. Parking is free in M-2 deck on the YSU campus.
The schedule:
8 to 10 a.m.: Free health screenings. Appointments are required for total HDL, LDL cholesterol, blood sugar and bone density screenings (12-hour fast required for cholesterol and blood sugar). Blood pressure, body fat, computerized heart health assessment, stroke risk assessment.
8:30 to 9 a.m.: Breakout Sessions – “Training Body and Mind to Reach Full Potential” or “How to Manage Stress and Maintain Health.”
9:30 to 10 a.m.: Breakout Sessions – “Meditation: Simple to Do and Good for You” or “How obesity and culture may affect some African American Women.”
10:30 a.m. to noon: “Preventive Measures for Cardiac Diseases, Hypertension and Diabetes” by Dr. Bonique Morton.
12:30 to 1 p.m. Lunch.
