Junior tailback Jody Webb runs through the raindrops at Saturday’s contest against St. Francis (Pa.) in Stambaugh Stadium.

Wonderful, sunny, late summer weekdays turned to monsoon-like conditions the last two Saturdays, raining all over the Penguins first two home football contests of the season.

YSU squeaked out a win at the home opener, Sept. 12, 21-14, against Robert Morris, then pounded St. Francis (Pa.) 48-3 on Sept. 19.

Both games featured torrential downpours.

The Penguins now go on the road to open the conference schedule against South Dakota Sept. 3 but return to Stambaugh Stadium for contests Sept. 10 vs. Illinois State and Sept. 17 vs. South Dakota State.

Sophomore QB Hunter Wells takes the snap.

Folks in the Athletics department are hoping for big crowds – and no rain.
